چکیده
Abstract Small hydropower (SHP) is one of the most critical renewable energy that well adapted to rural localities in less developed countries across world. Most communities Nigeria are off national power grid and bedevilled by an inconsistent supply electricity. The possible panacea crisis harnessing terrain abundant rivers streams within their domain. This study aimed identify select suitable sites for SHP dam upper Benue river watershed. Ten thematic layers, land use, precipitation, geology, soil, slope, elevation, stream index, topographic wetness drainage density, flow, were integrated with Geographic information system Analytical hierarchy process. A composite suitability map created revealed 7.5% watershed a very high class, while 17.5% low class. To ideal location, semi-automatic approach was narrow valleys intersecting contour order layer. Eighteen (18) potential identified after query operation done. method validated using field data which correlated model output t-Test; paired two samples mean. strong Pearson correlation 0.71 between observed. offers good prospects site selection. Based on survey, feasible economically technically construction will provide cheap millions inhabitants

Land suitability analysis for the upper Gila River watershed
In the United States, federal management agencies, such as the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management are required to assess the capability of land for future use. In addition, Arizona law now requires local jurisdictions to prepare comprehensive and general plans. Suitability analysis can be used for compliance with several elements of these plans. Here, a framework for lan...
متن کاملObject-Oriented Modelling of Small Hydropower Plants
The improvement of the exploitation of energy resources in power stations is a topic of growing interest. However, experimentation costs in order to increase productivity are very high, either because the possible equipment to change would be very expensive, or simply, because the plant would have to stop. In such cases, the simulation is a fast and cheap way to analyze the power plant behavior...

متن کاملA modelling methodology for natural dam-river network systems
An approach for modelling a natural dam-river network system is proposed in this paper. Generally, the relationships among the variables of a natural dam-river network system are complex and difficult to be described. In this paper, we present some simple first principle relationships among the water levels measured at a limited number of points of the network system such that a model is achiev...
